New website launches.

On the occasion of our second joint SingHealth - National Healthcare Group medical update, it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the Microsurgery and Flap Dissection Course.

This is a two-part course consisting of a basic microsurgery workshop designed to equip surgeons and researchers with basic techniques of microvascular surgery; and a flap dissection course which caters to those who have some clinical experience in reconstructive surgery.

The Microsurgery course is designed to provide ample opportunities for participants to acquire the various basic techniques from the adjustment of the operating microscope to the performance of replantation in a structured manner.

The Flap Dissection Course over two days will cover a selection of skin and muscle flaps useful for coverage of the extremities, head and neck, and trunk. Perforator flaps will be covered by our visiting expert Prof Jeong-Tae Kim. You will be guided step-by-step on how to raise flaps and will be provided with the opportunity to practice in groups.

Basic Microsurgery

• perform microvascular anastomosis
• perform microneural repair
• understand the technical aspects of replantation and free flap transfer

Flap Dissection

• Understand flap anatomy
• Harvest commonly-used flaps after appropriate further practice
• Understand the planning and organisation required for successful free tissue transfer.
